Agents

The future of work will be teams of people, augmented by AI agents. These agents act like real teammates — they wake up on their own, take action directly in your tools, and improve over time as they repeat their tasks. They're not just productivity tools, they're collaborators!

Each Agent owns a set of Workflows, the automated tasks and decisions it carries out on your behalf. As you and your team build more Agents, they begin to extend your org chart, each taking ownership of a different area of work.

Create Agents for any area of your business, such as:

  • Social Media Marketer

  • Competitive Researcher

  • Customer Support Agent

  • Employee Onboarder

  • Executive Assistant

  • ...and more

For example, below is our Support Agent. You can see the workflows it owns, an activity calednar that highlights busy days, in-progress and completed runs, and a chat box to ask the Agent to create new workflows (soon more!)

FAQ

General

chevron-rightWhat are Agents?hashtag

An Agent is an AI teammate in Relay.app that owns a set of responsibilities (Workflows). Workflows define the repeated tasks, like "what should happen when".

Agents group those Workflows and their activity history into one place, so you can give each Agent a clear job, such as "Customer Support Agent", "Competitive Researcher" or "Personal Assistant".

Moreover, you can chat with your Agents and they can help you to create new Workflows. (Soon more!)

chevron-rightHow do I provide feedback?hashtag

We'd love to hear your feedback!

  • What didn't work well

  • What worked well

  • New skills or features you'd like your Agents to have

The best ways to provide feedback:

  1. By clicking the thumbs up/down buttons inside the chat if it's within a chat conversation:

  1. By clicking the "Share agent feedback" button.

Alternatively, you can send an email to [email protected]

chevron-rightWhat other functionality is coming to Agents?hashtag

We hope to make Agents in Relay.app a lot more capable over time, with features like:

  • Chatting with your Agent about past work

  • Asking your Agent about its knowledge

  • Making it easier to give feedback to your Agent so that it will improve

  • Sending one-off automation requests to your Agent

  • ...let us know what you'd like to see by clicking Share feedback!

chevron-rightWhat can I ask my Agent?hashtag

At the moment, Agents will be able to help you create new Workflows via chat. We aim to give Agents more skills soon!

chevron-rightCan I chat with my Agent via Slack, email or another?hashtag

Not at the moment, but please let us know via the Share feedback button if you'd like that!

chevron-rightWhere can I find Agent templates?hashtag

We are working on Agent templates. For now, visit our relay.app/templatesarrow-up-right for Workflow templates. You can use these with your Agents.

Agents vs Workflows

chevron-rightWhat's the difference between Agents and Workflows?hashtag

An Agent may have multiple Workflows under it's management.

chevron-rightCan I still have Workflows that are not in an Agent?hashtag

Definitely!

chevron-rightWhat's the difference between Agents and Folders?hashtag

Both Agents and Folders provide a way to group multiple Workflows. However, that's where the comparison ends.

chevron-rightAre Workflows inside Agents the same as my old Workflows?hashtag

Yes! The are the same "constructs" with a Trigger followed by one or more Steps/Actions. You can also move Workflows into an Agent

chevron-rightHow do I move existing Workflows into an Agent?hashtag
  1. From the Workspace viewarrow-up-right, you can right-click on a Workflow, and select the Agent from the "Move to Agent" menu:

  1. From the Workflow Editor, click the 3 dots [...] top-right of the screen, and select "Move to Agent" there:

chevron-rightDo I need to move all my Workflows to Agents?hashtag

No, you will continue to use Workflows in a "stand-alone" way like before

chevron-rightWhen should I create an Agent, and when a Workflow?hashtag

Typically you'll want to create an Agent, as the mental model of an AI teammate makes it a lot easier to articulate the tasks it should automate.

Sharing Agents across your team

chevron-rightCan I share Agents with others in my team?hashtag

Currently, anyone that has permission to View/Edit an Agent based on the Folder it's in and/or Workspace settings will be able to View/Edit it.

chevron-rightCan I create shared Agents, that don't show up under my name?hashtag

Not yet at the moment

chevron-rightCan I edit Agents created by others?hashtag

Yes, if you have Edit permissions based on the Workspace settings or the Folder the Agent is in.
